What is it?

Pull out rides, clear the park queue. Free carousels, Viking ships and coasters from a jammed depot, seat guests with matching balloons, slide rides on rails Rush Hour-style, and beat 60 levels, a daily park and your friends' challenge links.

RIDE JAM is a theme-park take on the parking-jam puzzle. Rides stand packed on trailers in a depot, each pointing one way. A ride can only leave in its arrow's direction and only if the whole path to the depot's edge is clear; then it drives up into a round boarding plaza and parks on one of four platforms around it. Guests holding coloured balloons walk in through the plaza gate — only as many as the sign above the gate allows — and circle the walkway in one direction until a ride of their colour has a free seat.

The puzzle is the order. Pull out a ride whose colour is not circling yet and it occupies a platform; fill all four with colours nobody in the plaza wants and the park stops. Some rides sit on rails and can be slid back and forth Rush Hour-style without using a platform at all, which turns many blocked lanes into a choice between spending a platform and spending a slide.

There are 60 campaign levels in six park areas, a Today's park board that is the same for everyone, and challenge links that send a friend straight into the level you just cleared, with your time and platform count to beat.

How to play

  1. Tap a ride and it rolls straight out the way its arrow points — but only if nothing is in the way.
  2. There are only 4 platforms around the plaza. The plaza holds as many guests as the sign at the gate; someone must board before the next guest enters. Pull the rides the circling guests need.
  3. Rides on rails can be dragged back and forth, Rush Hour style — open a path without using a platform.
  4. If every platform is full and no guest in the plaza can board, the park stops. Three stars: no boosters and no more platforms than the goal.

Modes

Campaign
60 levels in six areas of ten (Main Gate Plaza, Carousel Garden, Viking Lake, Ferris Wheel Hill, Coaster Canyon, Night Parade). Clearing a level opens the next; stars are kept per level.
Today's park
One generated board per day, changing at midnight Korea time, the same for every player, with four platforms and a plaza for five guests. Boosters are off. Signed-in players' runs are replayed by the server and ranked by stars, peak platforms and time.
Friend challenge
A link that opens the same level (or day) with a friend's stars, time and peak platforms shown first. Boosters are off, and the result screen compares both records.

Good to know

  • Platforms are precious: if you only need to open a path, slide a rail ride instead of sending it.
  • White rides show their colour only when their way opens — reveal them early and re-plan.
  • Send a challenge to a friend to race on the same park — fewer platforms and a faster time win.

Strategy tips

Watch who is circling

The colours already in the plaza are the ones that can board right now, and the gate sign shows how many more can enter. Send a ride when its colour is circling or about to come in; otherwise it holds a platform while other colours board.

Two rides of one colour fill one at a time

A guest always picks the parked ride of their colour with the fewest seats left, so a second ride of the same colour mostly waits. Parking two of one colour at once is usually wasted space.

Slide instead of sending

Rails run across the whole lane, so a rail ride can often be pushed one or two cells to clear another ride's path. That costs no platform, which is often the difference between the three-star target and one over it.

Mind ride length

A coaster blocks four cells in a row and seats twelve; teacups block two and seat five. Long rides that block many lanes are worth moving early, but their twelve seats need twelve guests of that colour before the platform frees up.

Groups need room

From Ferris Wheel Hill, two or three guests may hold one bunch of balloons and must board the same ride. A ride with two seats left cannot take a group of three, so the group keeps circling even with the right colour parked.

Count maintenance down

A ride with a wrench and a number opens only after that many rides have left. Plan departures so it opens before the plaza fills with its colour.

Developer notes

Rules shared by browser and server

All rules live in one deterministic module with no random numbers or clocks. The browser runs the game with it, and the server replays a Today's park move list with the same code before ranking it, so a result cannot be posted without actually clearing the board.

Generated, then proven

Levels are built so that at least one removal order exists, then a search-based solver confirms each one and finds the smallest platform count that still clears it. The three-star goal is that number, or one more when a person-like robot rarely gets that low, but never every platform unless the minimum needs them all. Candidates the solver cannot confirm are discarded, and the test suite replays the solver's answer for all 60 levels.

Colour you can tell apart

Each balloon colour has its own shape — heart, circle, star, clover, diamond, moon, flower and drop — and the same symbol is painted on every ride and on the seats-left tag in front of its platform. Early areas use only red, blue, yellow and green; purple joins in area 2 and orange in area 5.

Why the plaza is round

The first version kept guests in a two-row line where only the front guest could board, and it was hard to see who was next. Guests now circle a round plaza with the platforms around it, always in one direction, and the gate sign caps how many can circle at once; the cap shrinks from 10 to 4 across the areas to keep the later parks tight.

Update history

  • RIDE JAM opens with 60 levels, Today's park, challenge links, rail rides, and three boosters.

Questions and answers

Do I need an account?

No. Everything works without signing in. Signing in with a GameNow account saves stars and boosters to your account and adds your Today's park runs to the daily ranking.

Why did I get only two stars?

The third star needs no boosters and a peak number of parked rides at or below the level's goal, shown at the top as '★★★ N platforms or fewer'. The platform dots turn orange when you go over it.

What happens when the line stops?

If every platform is full and none of the circling guests can board, or no ride can move, the game offers to continue with a booster you still have, or to start over.

Is every level solvable?

Yes. Every campaign level and every Today's park board is checked by the solver before it is used, and the automated tests replay a solution for all 60 campaign levels.

What does a challenge link share?

Only the level or day, your time in seconds, your peak platforms and your stars. It never includes your nickname.
